Mount Merbuk, Lost-Part 8.

The Light

Not knowing how long I was out for. It could have been a second, a day, or 10 days. I have no recollection of time. The light to which I oddly enough blacked out was back. I went from not seeing in the dark to not seeing in the light.

I tried as hard as I could to adjust to the light but my body, my neck, and head did not respond to any muscle input. I then saw a shadow moving in the bright light. It was just a thin dark figure or something resembling a figure. I had no way of knowing. The shadow moved closer and closer but I couldn’t make out what it was until I heard a cough. It was human, it was a man for sure, but I knew it could not have been Steve.

There had to be someone here. While I tried my darndest to speak, no words came out of my mouth. I didn’t have a voice, I didn’t have enough strength to create a sound. Or I was a complete vegetable, I was not sure of anything and unsure of everything. Still not knowing my state or alertness, I did hope that I was alive and that there was someone with me, wherever I happened to be.

When I then heard another cough and something touching my lips. It was a hot liquid. It had a slight sweetness to it but I couldn’t place the taste of it. It had a tingling sensation like that of mint but not quite. When I realized that I most likely couldn’t speak because my throat felt like sandpaper. When the liquid slowly made its way down my dry throat I realized I was indeed alive. I was alive and someone was tending to me.

While I still couldn’t see, I was finally able to understand that indeed I was alive and that I may live through this ordeal. I hoped that Steve too would be in my state but I was still not well enough to process the happenings over the time I had been out.
