Zsolt Zsemba Part 3 of 4.

So, this is me:

I can make a sofa from scratch. Yes, I can design, cut, glue, screw, and staple together a wooden furniture frame. I can cut, sew and upholster a sofa after I have prepped it with springs and foam.

Yes, growing up in a family business means I had to be a jack of all trades, including cleaning the employee bathrooms and sweeping the factory floor. When I mentioned that at MD Pictures, where I was the COO a few years ago, people’s jaws nearly hit the floor. Humble beginnings make for interesting stories and people are hard-pressed to believe them. However, there are so many fun stories that would make for some fun blogs.

What kinds of stories?

Well, there was a time when our cow died when my parents were on vacation. We had to hide it from our parents. My brother and I had fun with it and didn’t tell them until much later so they could enjoy their trip. There was a time we found a dead coyote on the driveway.

Or the time my dad and I were on a business trip in Houston Texas and I asked the immigration officer to question my dad about the whereabouts of his driver’s license for fun.

Maybe the time my brother and I drove 140-150km/h from Caledon to Montreal with a pullout couch in the back for a customer. I am pretty sure if we calculated the ROI on that trip, we lost money. A back-and-forth trip in a day from Caledon to Montreal was not fun, but we did it.

My dad and I used to work through many nights to get things ready for clients. My brother and I used to goof around as much as we could while working. Those were fun times and although we worked long hours, we had fun.

So, I am a combination of all that.

Having had to be responsible and be good all the time as the captain of the soccer team. Always being a business owner or the son of the owner, we always had to behave respectably. This was a burden and not a good one. Often my brother and I couldn’t be the kids we wanted to be. We had to be responsible and set a standard for behavior, quality, and of course the way we talked to others.

This is where people skills come in. This is where we shine. Talking to people and getting people to join a cause… This was our cause, but of course, we paid them. However, getting people to listen, obey, and even step up at times is where we as a family and individuals always did our best. All that and more is what makes me, me. So, my branding is an accumulated experience throughout my life. I plan to carry all that and more into the future when I launch the new books and open it all up on social media.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
