Women’s Business Organization.
Once more, this opportunity came to me through social media. Namely @zsoltzsemba TikTok. I have had many interesting opportunities pop up because of social media. This is why it is important to give back. Most things I do are for free, but I do benefit in many other ways.
Recently, I was contacted by a woman’s business organization from Jakarta. What will we do? Well, I am unsure at the moment, as the parameters have not been completely ironed out. Some of the topics I would like to touch on are…
Support:
This is simple, how do you support people? In my case, it will be a simple support system that follows up with what we will be teaching. This will include a basic guidebook and some points on the basics of business.
Mentoring:
This goes hand in hand with support but mentoring individuals and showing them how things can be done is very important. Teaching and following up with the participants will be amazing. This may include consulting on existing businesses and or new ones.
Cheerleading:
Give me a “G” give me an “O”, and let’s GO. Probably the most important thing is to cheer people on. Make them feel that you stand behind them and it is different from encouragement.
Encouragement:
I can stand up, jump up and down as much as I want. However, personal encouragement is much more than just cheerleading. Don’t take a “no” for an answer. Well, not really but let’s keep excuses to a minimum.
What are people missing?
It’s simple, many entrepreneurs and business coaches focus on export. I focus on the locals. I focus on helping small businesses and not leaning toward the massive promise of export. Others can focus on a few big things. I’ll focus on small businesses and mom-and-pop shops. Only because I know how it feels, I know how it goes because my family has been there.
Why the women?
Because my demographics are 80 percent women on all my social media platforms. There are many single moms following me, and surprisingly many of them own or want to own a small business.
This is encouraging to hear because things have been changing in Indonesia. At least in my world and my social media world is changing. People are braver and they speak up more. They are more engaging and much more open-minded than the Indonesia of 20 years ago. Will Indonesia ever be a superpower? I do not have a crystal ball, but I feel positive about the state of Indonesian small businesses and that’s why I have decided to support them to the best of my abilities.
