The Real Me Behind the TikTok Persona
If you’ve seen me on TikTok, you might think I’m always the funny guy—cracking jokes, staying upbeat, and keeping things light. And honestly, that’s mostly true when I’m online. But let me share something: when I first started creating content, I tried being serious. I talked about business, life, real topics that I thought would resonate. But it just didn’t land. The views? Low. The engagement? Even lower. So I leaned into what got people watching—the funny stuff. I chose to keep it light and humorous because, on TikTok, that’s what works.
But that’s not all there is to me. In real life, I’m more reserved. I like to write things down, books poems, blogs etc. You could say I’m even a bit of an introvert. I don’t mind it, and I’m not bothered when people meet me in person and say, “Oh, he’s funny and can also be serious.” It’s all part of who I am. I’m not always the loud, outgoing guy you might see online, but when it comes to content creation, I let that side of me shine.
Find Balance!
The real trick is finding balance. Yes, I try to find humor in everything—because laughter is a way of coping with the chaos of life—but I know when to get serious, too. The side of me that you don’t see on TikTok, though, is the one shaped by my past. My history, my struggles, the things that have made me who I am today—that doesn’t come across in the funny videos. People don’t really see where I’ve come from; they only see what’s on the screen. It’s not pressure, though. I don’t feel like I have to be funny, but the comments and interactions on TikTok often turn humorous all on their own.
What am I trying to say with my TikToks? The message is simple: don’t take life too seriously. Life’s short. Enjoy it. Laugh when you can. Keep it light when you can. That’s what TikTok is for me—a place to have fun and make others laugh.
On The Blog
When it’s time to share serious thoughts, though, I do that on my blog, over at zsoltzsemba.com. That’s where I express the deeper stuff, the things that really matter. It’s my space to be serious and talk about the things I can’t always bring up on TikTok.
I’ve reached a point where I want people to know that I’m not always just trying to be funny. Yes, my TikToks lean toward comedy, but behind that humor is someone who has been through things, someone who knows life can be tough. So while I can joke around, I also know when it’s time to be serious. That’s the balance I live with.
Are people surprised when they meet me? Sometimes. I think they expect me to be a constant comedian. But when they get to know me, they realize I’m actually a lot like what they see online—just with a little more depth. So, why so serious? Because sometimes, that’s just who I am—someone who knows how to laugh but isn’t afraid to get serious when it counts.
