TikTok Ban!

Thinking about what would be the next big thing to piss me off and I thought back to my TikTok life. This is now the third time I have been suspended/banned on TikTok for a limited time. The very first time it was clear. TikTok didn’t like me doing a live shot of a Kecak Dance at the GWK Cultural Park.

I had started my TikTok Live in hopes of sharing the dance and festivities with my followers. However, about a minute in, I got a copyright violation notice and I was shut down for 3 hours. This was weird because it was a live performance and that’s what TikTok wants, live events, right? Ok, whatever the legality of it is, I didn’t care, the ban was for copyright and I was off for 3 hours.

The Second Ban

So as many TikTokers do, I was doing a giveaway about 3 weeks ago with my friend Rima from Alir Tirta Batik in Seminyak. We have done giveaways several times. We have given away silk scarves and even a trip to Bali. However, this time as I was going on and on about the giveaway. my screen went blank and I was suspended for 3 days.

F*ck me, I thought to myself as I read the note from TikTok that I had violated community guidelines.

Ok, what does that mean?

To be honest I have no idea. At the same time as I was talking about the giveaway, a strange account appeared and with the equivalent of Mike Hunt, I read “Konh Toll” which loosely translates to “dick” in English.

Kohn Toll?

Yes, so I read the name and the comment which would translate to “fag” in English. The problem is I didn’t know what I was reading until after and my moderators muted the account.

TikTok says my live violated community guidelines.

They say it is up to me to set up the blocking of words and the muting of accounts etc. However, they monitor the chat they can see and hear with AI what’s happening and it was an accident. I read something in a language other than English. This also happened to a friend of mine who was shut down for a week.

My Name is Naga

My friend made the mistake of reading someone’s name on his very first TikTok live. Yes, he read Naga and you know damn well that TikTok thought he said.

Come now TikTok, you allowed the name to be used and you know exactly what it would sound like when someone reads it. So now you are not as smart as you think you are with your AI and a person is blocked.

The problem is there is zero recourse and zero accountability on their end for a follow-up. I was banned for three days and I still do not know why. Three weeks later I was shut down for 3 days again. I thought it was more about the part of me talking about the giveaway because this time they accused me of fraud and scamming. I tried reaching out to TikTok via email via the appeal process and nothing. After my 3 days were up they told me that I was not allowed to go live again. Well, thank you. I knew that. However, I have worked hard on my account and my viewers spend money on gifts and I spend the money on gifts, etc. The least TikTok could do is support the creators fairly. Come on TikTok how much control do you guys want?
