The Lost Women Of Bali Part 3

In Search of Happiness.

Life is hard and it does not get easier by moving to Bali, even if you have a plan. This young woman moved to Bali with a job in hand and ready to make a new start. This is a common theme. Live the good life, visit the bars and clubs, party all weekend, and… oh and be so hungover, you cannot go to work?

Maybe that was not part of the plan. However, one thing to keep in mind is, that Indonesia in general is a conservative country when it comes to drinking, nightlife, and clubbing. Many young women come to Bali and it is their first experience at the wild club life and mingling with foreigners.

This is a major culture shock and yet you are still in your home country.

The locals are used to this. They grow up with the wild men and women. Referring to both locals and foreigners in this case. The kids grew up with Western influence but not someone from central Jawa who decided to pack up and head to Bali.

A Slippery Slope.

When I met this person she reached out for advice. The story started off like all the rest. Moving here and starting etc. However, things quickly turned dark. I saw that this person came with another person who somewhat refused to join us.

She blurted out that the girl who was waiting outside was here in Bali with her stepfather. This individual told me she lent this friend some money, shoes, and clothes. This so-called friend helped her when she was drunk at the side of the road so she felt this individual was a good person. But, the darkness came on very quickly and I was in for a crazy ride.

Stepfather/Pimp

I think she needed to tell someone this story and was in desperate need of advice. She told me more about the stepfather and her friend

A stepfather who on occasion sleeps with her stepdaughter?

Yeah, I believe this so-called friend is a prostitute and is most likely trapped in the situation and is recruiting others. This stepfather often records himself with this young woman and probably sells the footage. The more I heard the worse it got. This individual I met was invited back to the stepfather’s place where he encouraged her to have a threesome and tried molesting her. Oh yes, all true. Furthermore, the catch was that the new friend owed money to my acquaintance here. Sex, prostitution, and I will guess sex trafficking and recruitment was what it was all about. It was about trapping young women in a life of sex. She was so proud to say that she would call the cops on them. I told her to run and leave the money, and the friend, and not bother with the cops. What are you gonna tell the cops?

A prostitute and her stepfather that she sometimes or often, ok all the time has sex with stole my money and clothes?

This is where she needed advice. She is living a dangerous life. She is already hooked and now she was about to be reeled in. I am unsure, if she is as naive as she made herself out to be but judging by her reaction and her attitude, she has hit the ground running in the bar and club scene and in three months at the edge of prostitution. My advice will probably not be taken. I fear she will get raped, abused, and wind up in this scene. I am steering clear and as far away from this as I can.

In the end, I was the one needing a coffee and a break from the story that I just heard. If it was not for the suspicious behavior of the friend who didn’t come in, I may not have believed it. In the end, the so-called friend abandoned this individual and took off. I may not be able to save each person I meet, but, hey it makes for a hell of a blog.
