So You Think It’s Cute?

You Think It’s Cute Ha?

I don’t give a shit how cute you think your dog is, or if you think your dog is a person… They do not belong on a table in a restaurant. It’s that simple. Before you go off the rails, I have been a dog and cat owner all my life. My dog and cat often shared a bed and couch with me. However, recently I was in a restaurant in Bali called Kilo. It is in a trendy area of Seminyak, the hotbed of activity in Bali.

As I was enjoying my meal, a family of Asian descent entered with 3 little poodles. I say Asian because they were the filthy rich kind. Please no hate, my kids are mixed, and I have experience with all different cultures.

Anyway, they let the dogs loose, and they ran around the exterior area of the restaurant. The dogs then proceeded to climb on the tables. Yes, they were little dogs that could have been easily tossed to the other side of the fence if needed, but that is not the point!

The Staff

Most staff/managers are kind to tourists. They said nothing, but the dogs were on the restaurant table and the owners were taking pictures. For God’s sake people, give your head a shake and get your dog off the table. I was in the middle of my meal and didn’t want to cause a scene, but man I wanted to go over and give them a piece of my mind since they didn’t seem to be using them.

The staff is so scared to get a bad review and a one-star rating that no one dares to say a word. This needs to stop. I am not religious but many of the Muslim faith cannot be licked by a dog etc. However, this is not only about respect but also about common sense.

Mano’s Beachclub

This is another place where I witnessed rude behavior from foreigners. They let three little dogs loose in the restaurant area. The place is filled with beanbags, so the dogs have direct access to many restaurant patrons.

The little dogs ran around and one of them pee’d on the beanbags and the artificial turf. Oh my God! The staff just watched as the dogs ran around and didn’t say a damn word! They are terrified of customers being upset. I am all for dogs but come on Bali restaurant owners. If the dogs are allowed, have them on a leash! I am pretty sure, no one goes to restaurants expecting it to be a dog park! Smarten up, you stupid dog owners. Your dog is a dog unless it can think and speak like a human. If you identify as a dog and need to pee on beanbags maybe you should stay home too. Your dog cannot identify as a human no matter what you do.

Let’s have a little respect for each other and your dog. Your dogs and my dogs were and are loved, we want what’s best for them. However, they may come across someone who will kick them or throw them into the ocean on the beach. Then you will blame them when it was your fault!
