Meeting After 7 Months

Time and space.

In general, when we do not see friends and family for a while we tend to have emotional reconnections when we meet. My meeting with my bro could not have been farther from the truth.

Seems kinda funny but not really.

After not seeing my brother for 7 months, it was rather strange when I met up with him and hopped in the car as if I have seen him nearly every day. Wait, there is an explanation. Thanks to the invention of the cell phone, WhatsApp, and video calls we talk more now than we did when we lived and worked spitting distance from each other for decades.

Why is this?

For one, we always worked in a family business and we probably had enough of each other most of the time. Now, we are both in very different parts of the world and on different paths in life. Now that we are both divorced and happier without our significant others, we have gotten even closer.

Sure we had our falling outs over the years. Mostly due to business and the wives we had at the time. However, with the advent of technology, we have certainly connected. Another bonus is that while I am in Indonesia and he is in Canada, we connect on a great timeline. The night and day and day and night time change fits beautifully with our communications times.

Just Hop in The Car.

Because we text every day and talk nearly every day… We have nothing new to share except for the actual trip that I am on the way to Canada.

So when I ran down to the front lobby/pickup area of my condo, I opened the door, said hi, and asked where were going. As we drove off, only then did we realize that we didn’t even as much as shake hands when we met. It was a seamless conversation from one part of the world to the other at the front of my building. We realized this as soon as we left the condo and laughed about it. Nothing seemed out of place or extraordinary. The fact that I came in the summer this time made things even more fun. I was dressed the same way today as I would be in Bali. Thanks to technology, we are closer today, being on opposite sides of the planet than when we were kilometers apart. Strange how the world works.

The more things change.

Now things will be even more strange as my bro will come to Bali and spend another few months. Another interesting step in life will be my brother’s new career and we will launch it from Bali. Seems like the family business will continue but in a slightly different way than it was in the past. New career, new life, and new business are we on the road to retirement? Absolutely not!

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
