“J” Town Again!

Off to Jakarta!

It is time to go to “J” town again! Many people dislike Jakarta for its traffic and pollution. However, millions call it home for good reason. Business, business, and more business. All the big deals and big events are held in Jakarta. Despite the capital being moved, I guess that Jakarta will remain Jakarta. I imagine it being like Toronto and Ottawa if that was the move made.

The government can create its little town and get it out of the big city; however, Jakarta will forever remain Jakarta as we know it today. The government spaces, if all moved will be swallowed up quickly by other businesses and life will go on without noticing that the government has left. Either way, I am off for a 12-day trip.  I will be headed to the downtown core for 12 days. Many people ask me why downtown and the downtown core. The answer is simple, all the good shit goes down in the center of Jakarta and so many people cross paths in the area. I like the interaction.

The People

The downtown core is busy, hard to get in and out. Even worse if you are in a rush. I am planning my meetings and will have plenty of time, even if it is wasted in traffic. Besides, most of the time we are in the car, we are working on our phones or our laptops. For me, it will be interviews and planning my book launch, so no real office time is needed or wasted by travel.

What’s the plan?

Well, I say we because I have some help with all this… We are headed to the Kemang area to visit the distributor, Bukukita, and to create some buzz and social media content while we are getting our ducks in a row for the book launch.  In the meantime…

The Last Trip

On my last two visits, I barely had any time for leisure. The first trip back a few months ago was mostly for a car rally and I had to be back in Bali for a social media content shoot with a client. The second last one was about my work permit and that was a mad scramble from Bali to Singapore, Jakarta, and Bali.

This time it’s 12 days of leisure mixed with business and catching up with old friends. As you may or may not know, I used to work at MD Pictures and have plenty of friends in Jakarta that I hope to reconnect with. All the while in the back of my mind, I will be thinking… I hope people show up for my book launch on March the second. It is going to be a fun time and hope we also make some sales while enjoying the crazy Jakarta vibe that is Jakarta Indonesia.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
