Why People Need It to Justify Their Lives

Purpose is something we all need—it gives our lives direction and meaning. Without it, we’d be walking through life aimlessly, feeling like we’re just drifting from one day to the next. Right now, for me, my purpose is pretty clear: it’s to share knowledge. I’ve gathered a lot of experiences over the years, and I feel driven to pass that on to others. That’s what gets me up in the morning.

But here’s the thing—it wasn’t always so clear. And I know for many people, finding that purpose is harder than ever. Social media bombards us with so much noise that it’s easy to feel lost. You see everyone else’s highlight reel, their perfect jobs, relationships, and achievements, and it can make you question whether you’re even on the right track.

How Do You Find Purpose?

I get it. The confusion can be overwhelming. But I think the key to overcoming this is staying close to the people who know you best—your friends, your family. These are the ones who ground you. They remind you of who you are when everything else feels like a blur. Sometimes, the people around you help you find the direction you’re missing, even when you can’t see it for yourself.

It’s easy to get sidetracked, but the purpose doesn’t always have to be some massive, world-changing thing. It can be something as simple as being there for the people you care about or excelling in what you’re passionate about. Purpose comes in all shapes and sizes, and the important thing is that it feels right for you.

Purpose Can Change, and That’s Okay

I also believe purpose can change over time. In fact, it probably should change as we grow and our lives evolve. Right now, sharing knowledge is my purpose, but that might not be my focus forever. If I were to start a family or take on a new job, my priorities would naturally shift. A partner, a child, or a new life chapter can bring with it a new sense of purpose. And that’s totally fine. You’re allowed to adapt and let your purpose evolve with you. Life changes, and so do we.

Purpose

At the end of the day, purpose is what gives our lives meaning. It justifies all the choices we make, the paths we take, and the goals we set. It may not always be obvious, and it can take time to figure out, but once you find it, it makes everything else fall into place. And remember, it’s okay if your purpose shifts as your life changes. What’s important is that you stay open to it and let it guide you forward.
