Let’s Go To The Mall
Yes, I made the mistake of going to the mall this weekend. It was Sunday morning and my scooter battery called it quits. So I decided to Go Bike, much like Uber to the mall instead, and grab a few things. Not realizing that it was the day after Chinese New Year. Not only was the mall filled with a bunch of Chinese people; also there was a bunch of locals who had joined them. Either way, it was full.
While I had meant to get to this topic a while ago, here it is. So I went to Trans Studio Mall and here is the blog about it. So this and many other Trans Studio Malls have a ride built in it. This one has a roller coaster on the roof that sort of hangs off the building. However, that is not the point of this blog.
Do Not Lean on the Railing.
This is the point of this blog. While I understand that the mall does not want people loitering and taking up space, I think I should be able to lean on the railing.
The first time I saw this was in Jakarta. I had leaned on the railing until a security guard told me not to. At that time I had yet to see the Do not lean on the railing sign.
Why the F*ck did you bother putting the railing in then?
I bet they do not know why themselves. Is it not strong enough to lean on because it is made of glass? Will it hold up if someone gets knocked into it or falls towards it? If an engineer is reading this, please enlighten me as to why. I mean, I want to lean on the railing, I really do. Eat ice cream and chill, or have husbands and children lean on the railing while waiting for others. I mean come on, what kinda bullshit is this? If you do not want me to lean, do not put a railing! Idiots!
The Coaster
This brings me to my second point about this mall. When the rollercoaster is running. The vibrations can be felt on the ground floor, specifically the toilet. Yup, I was there and I felt it. No, it was not the road that caused the vibration. Nope, it was the coaster.
Where there is such vibration, eventually there will be something that vibrates away and something will fail. I am willing to bet that this mall and possibly others will experience structural flaws in the future. I am willing to bet money on it.
So, do not lean on the railings because God forbid it may break. Do not bother going to this mall in a few years as I am sure it will collapse. I wish I had photoshopped that sign but I didn’t. It is real and I hope that railing is strong enough to hold someone in case they do lean on it. I wouldn’t want someone falling.
