Why I Hate Politicians

A Rant on Political Deception

The Endless Bush-Beating

I try hard not to write about politics and politicians. But… Let’s start with the most infuriating thing about politicians – they never, and I mean NEVER, give direct answers to anything. Always beating around the bush, dancing around questions like it’s some kind of Olympic sport. Ask them if the water is wet and they’ll give you a five-minute speech about hydration policies and environmental regulations.

When’s the last time you heard a politician just say “yes” or “no”? It’s like they physically can’t do it. Instead, we get word salads designed to sound smart while saying absolutely nothing of substance.

Lies, Deception, and False Promises

The campaign trail might as well be renamed “Fantasy Land.” Politicians will promise you the moon, stars, and a pony just to get your vote. Then once they’re in office? Those promises evaporate faster than morning dew in a desert.

Take Trump as a perfect example – promised to build a wall that Mexico would pay for, drain the swamp, and bring back manufacturing jobs. How’d that work out? Mexico didn’t pay a cent, the swamp got deeper, and most of those jobs stayed overseas. Yet his supporters act like he delivered everything with a bow on top.

But it’s not just him. ALL of them do this. They make promises they have no intention of keeping, saying whatever stupid things they think will get them elected while trying to sound smart.

Corrupt System, Corrupted People

Even if someone enters politics with good intentions (a big if), the system itself is designed to corrupt. Politicians get sucked into a disgenuine system where making stupid decisions and supporting the wrong causes becomes the norm.

They spend more time fundraising than governing. They cozy up to special interests and lobbyists who shower them with cash. Is it any surprise they end up serving those who paid for their campaigns instead of the people who elected them?

Where’s the Damn Accountability?

Here’s what infuriates me most – WE as the people elect these damn politicians, and WE as the people do not benefit. Instead, we get:

  • Tons of waste on pet projects
  • Dumb decisions that hurt ordinary citizens
  • Complete lack of honor or integrity
  • Corruption and greed with zero consequences

When you or I mess up at work, we face consequences. When politicians make catastrophic mistakes or get caught in blatant lies? They just move on to the next news cycle, often failing upward into more powerful positions.

What Needs to Change

What I want to see is real accountability and proper oversight on corruption and greed. Politicians should face actual consequences for lying to the public and wasting our tax dollars. Their finances should be under a microscope. Their campaign promises should be legally binding contracts.

Until we revolutionize how we hold our elected officials accountable, we’ll keep getting the same self-serving, dishonest behavior that’s become the hallmark of modern politics.

The system isn’t broken – it’s working exactly as designed. The problem is it wasn’t designed to work for us.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
