My other TikTok Account.
My main account @zsoltzsemba is nearing 60k and my backup account @tunggutunggutunggu is growing quickly. “Tungggu” means wait and that is my slogan. I have created a backup account for myself in case my main account runs into problems. This account is growing quickly as well, but it is taking on a life of its own.
While I was trying to post more personal content, I ended up touching on a bit of niche.
On one of my TikTok lives I invited a guest and the viewers grew with the simple interview I did. As the views went up to 150 and then over 200, I figured I needed to keep going.
So, I kept going.
That live ended up past 200 viewers and I figured it may have been a luck of the draw as it tends to happen on my other account as well.
The next day I did it again… It may be the timing and the Ramadhan holiday, but I hit over 300 viewers and the comments were going crazy. This is a niche I need to explore, I thought to myself.
I did the live the next day and the next day. The results were the same. Somehow, my connection to the people and the viewers hit on something. Most likely because a white guy is doing the interviews and the content is all in Indonesian. The comments and the interaction and the gifts were going up, up, up!
I feel it is more personal. A white man, a “bule” conducting interviews with locals and taking an interest in them seems to be working. It gives them a voice online and somehow makes them happy in the process. It is a win-win scenario for sure!
It must be the content.
The TungguTungguTunggu account is now a local focus. What I eat, what I do, and so on. With the focus on the locals is amazing.
Now, most of my followers here are single moms, and that makes up 80% of my followers. But when I had them on live, the praise and positivity they gained from the viewers were amazing.
I feel very positive about doing these short interviews. No more than 5 min at a time I get a sense of how this will play out with each person. Sometimes I cut people off, much like a host would do on a live radio broadcast.
The single moms are the kicker here. Up to four children and running a business as well as the house chores is not easy, no matter where you live.
As of now my backup account is over 5,000 followers and on occasion, the likes, comments, and viewers overshadow those on the main account of nearly 60K. I will surely keep this format going and I hope to keep the interaction up and engage with more and more locals.
