Road Trip Day 4

Exploring Amed.

We are shaped so much by our experiences. If you never explore you will remain very closed-minded and maybe even bored. Those who go to all-inclusive resorts and lounge by the pool in any country should consider getting their heads examined.

There is so much to see, and so much to do in this world. We are shaped by our experiences and interactions. Interact and explore is what we did. While we road through small villages. Kids and adults alike said hello, waved, and smiled at us. That’s what this is all about.

What Are You Waiting For?

Why wait? Go, go, go, get out, and explore like we did. We headed out for dinner and planned to go much further west but it started to rain. We pulled over at Sail restaurant and decided to have dinner there. Fortunately, the food was as good as the view and we had the company of a cute kitten. We also ate fresh local fish along with our newfound friend at the restaurant.

Cats and dogs are welcome everywhere in Bali. Most places welcome them. I however question that in many places and many locations. But that deserves another blog.

Local Places

The best way to find out about what’s around is by driving along and seeing things. With the two of us on the scooter we were able to point out a pig slaughter for example. Indonesia is predominantly Muslim but Bali is Hindu. Going up the mountain the piggy was still tied to a tree. Coming down, the piggy was still tied to a tree but now slaughtered and his hair was being torched off.

Not the type of thing you see every day in Canada. We rode through a rural village and this was an everyday occurrence. Nothing to see here, move right along I would say. Being in rural villages we were asked to enter several homes along our journey. We didn’t but we certainly could have and would have been treated very well. This is one of many things I like about Bali and Indonesia in General. The people the food, the culture, and how welcoming everyone is.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
