People often ask me…

“Why do you support Indonesian and Indonesia”

Many locals in Indonesia ask me why I like their country and why I support them. The short answer is… It’s not only the sunsets in Bali.

Indonesia has always been good to me.

Yes, my ex-wife is from here. However, I got a wonderful son and daughter out of the relationship. I have so many accomplishments here and I cannot dismiss them all together. So there is something here that works for me. Besides, I love the weather and the people in general. There is so much more to this.

Accomplishments.

Writing soap operas.

I fell into this one… I always wrote poetry but when my now ex-wife was writing soap operas I decided to give it a shot. Turns out I was quite good at it. Don’t be afraid to try new things guys.

Met plenty of celebrities.

This is obvious but I assume not all writers get to meet all the stars. I did and I am quite happy about it. If only to be able to say, “yah I played soccer with…”

Writing Made for TV movies.

Since we wrote soap operas, made for TV movies were not far off. So here we were launching made for TV movies all on our own. We didn’t write all of them, but we sure wrote a few dozen.

Was in charge of building Jakarta Film Studios.

Jakarta Film Studios is an amazing facility that I am proud to have been a part of. This place is one of a kind in Indonesia because of its acoustics. Many major films, commercials and soap operas are shot there.

In charge of building the one and only Dolby Atmos studio.

This project was finished just as COVID hit. Jakarta Film Studios housed the one and only Dolby Atmos mixing studio and as we launched we got shut down. It is up and running and managed to survive COVID.

Met two presidents of Indonesia.

Bu Megawati and Pak Habibie are two individuals I have met. Bu Megawati I met at a movie premier with MultiVision. Pak Habibie I met when he came to the stock exchange building and for the movie Habibie Ainun.

I ran RDM Publishing.

So COVID helped I guess… Being short on staff and having employee issues, I was put in charge to turn this company around. That we did and made it profitable in 9 months while also getting out of debt.

MD Pictures COO.

I am happy to say that I worked as a COO for the largest production house in Indonesia. Yes, we made a ton of movies and set records at 10,000,000 viewers for KKN. Danur, Habibie Ainun, and KKN are the top movies. While we made plenty of bad ones, people remember the big hits.

So what now?

Using all the above achievements and past experiences in the family business, I now help small businesses grow. Plus I focus quite a bit on social media, TikTok and I teach English for fun on Zoom. Life is interesting we never know how and when our lives will change on a dime. Hang in there everyone.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
