Oh, Bali Belly!

So It Happened!

My son, my dad, and I went for a long walk in the evening. My son and I love to wander around Bali at night. It is amazing to see the same road you drive down each day and then see it at night. Things are lit up and you see a ton of things you seem to miss during the day. So off we to a Vietnamese restaurant, we had a small meal since weren’t very hungry. My son had a sandwich, I had some spring rolls and my dad had simple yogurt and fruits.

All was well until the morning after, which is weird so we don’t quite believe it was food poisoning as I had had experience with that before. Unfortunately, both my son and I felt something was not right. We had plans for breakfast on the beach and off we went.

The Azul restaurant is right on the beach in Legian and it’s a fun place to chill since there are many surf schools and it’s fun watching people wipe out while you having your breaky. Breakfast with a view and a show, what could go better with your coffee?

We Had Plans.

As soon as we were done I got the bill and my son promptly went off to the washroom to throw up. This was not a good sign. I on the other hand only had some funny feelings in my tummy but I was still ok. My son didn’t take all this too seriously so off we went to Tanah Lot. This was a 40-minute trip and was not so bad.

We were out in the sun for about an hour or so and walked around a bit. My son was not feeling so well and we headed back. On the way home we had to pull over as my son once again threw up and then we knew we had a more serious issue. After wasting a shirt and a towel to clean up my son we headed home and straight to shower and bed. My son slept from about 4 pm to 9 am but when he woke up he was still unwell.

Itravenus Time.

While I have had this treatment before for dehydration I knew they had one for Bali’s belly. My assistant called the people and promptly they were here at 10:30 am to give us our treatments. Medicine vitamins and liquids were administered by Cepat Sehat organization and we hoped we would get better by the evening.

The evening came and went and we sort of felt the same. We were all in bed by 9 pm and slept right through till morning. Both of us felt a little better even though our bowel movements were not back to normal. While we had plans for each day of our trip Bali is not a place you want to run around while having to poop. Bali is not as conducive to running into a store and asking them to use the washroom. Harder to pull over and run inside a resto or a gas station because most bathrooms are very poorly maintained. So let’s hope we will overcome the small problems and we can enjoy the rest of our trip.
