My Disappointment In The Bali Real Estate Market.

Gone Are The Good Old Days!

Gone are the good old days when we used to marvel at the beautiful Bali villas and watch the imaginations of architects come to fruition. When I look back to 10-20 years ago, the creativity, the genuine race for builders and architects to outdo each other has now been overtaken by shitty looking townhouses popping up all over. May as well be 18th century England as rows upon rows of tiny and sometimes crappy little places are being sold off-plan.

Builders milking things for all their worth and people wondering… What happened to our investments and why are these pieces of shit that we planned on making so much money on, not selling. When I look back at books like this; Bali Houses, it makes my heart ache that so many people are building little matchbox cookie-cutter dwellings that totally lack imagination and creativity. Serving it up on a silver platter like they are doing you a favor by selling it to you.

Gone are the days of agents picking you up and driving you around to see the lovely properties they have to offer because they know it’s a shitty little place and most likely overpriced. Never mind the Russian invasion with Vladimir and Dimitri promoting the places in Russian and making the real estate market more, ahem, shall we say speculative… I block every Russian account I come across, sorry…

Yes, I Looked Into It.

I talked to several real estate companies that were not so real. Oh yeah they exist, but the slimy scumbags behind those companies are like WTF. You people talk to me and others I am sure as if I am stupid. I have probably lived here longer than you and speak better Bahasa Indonesian than you and you talk like you own the place.

Your sales tactics need to change bro!

The way you talk to people, and the way many treat me and others as a client is downright despicable. Man, I miss the good old days of Bali.

Where Are The Nice People?

Where are the people that made Bali special? Please don’t let Bali go to waste. Are there any genuinely nice people who not only want to make money but also have a little bit of pride? A little bit of vision of Bali and who they are, what they are doing on this island?

I guess all the nice people are gone, dead and buried. If there are any nice people out there, I would love for them to reach out to me and say…

Hey, my vision is different than the others and I would like to build nice places and make a fair profit but not create shit.

I guess, I won’t be getting any calls, because no one would have read this far… Good luck to all of us and let’s hope that things will change, but I doubt it.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
