Mount Merbuk, Lost-Part 11.

What Happened?

The old couple came in. The man sat on the edge other bed and the woman pulled up a chair beside me. While the woman glanced down at me with a kind caring look the man took out a large wooden tube. It resembled a trumpet but was wide at the end, very wide. The tube must have been about a meter log.

While to woman proceeded to feed me, the man blew into the tube. It was a gentle rumble and I immediately recognized it. It was indeed the rumble from the other night. But I had associated it with fear instead of good. Things were making sense when a spoonful of mush entered my mouth. It was sustenance indeed.

After being fed, I drank a little and the old woman helped me sit up in bed. Only then did I realize that my entire body was black, blue, and bloody. The woman left the cabin and the man continued to blow the deep bass-toned trumpet. The woman returned with a bucket of water and proceeded to clean me up.

The leech marks and dried blood were all over my body. After being cleaned up a little I realized I may have been out for much longer than I had thought. I finally managed to ask the woman…

“Where am I?” I asked and she looked at me with a rather shocked look. “House, my house” she uttered in broken English. This I had gathered on my own and as I was about to rephrase the question I heard a loud ding.

The phone in the backpack rang out. I looked at the backpack and in a slow movement the woman looked over at it. I asked for it in a desperate panic. She handed me the backpack but I was unable to pick it up. The phone went off again and this time it was a call. The phone rang and rang until she slowly undid the zipper. This felt like an eternity until it reached my hand.
