It’s All In The Details

Sometimes it’s the fine print, right? Sometimes it is something we miss and sometimes we are in a hurry. My old friend Randy used to say:

Haste makes waste.

This is something I try to remember when making decisions. This time I too fell for the let’s do this quick, get out of here and do something more exciting. As quickly as I could I booked my ticket out of Jakarta and went on my merry way to meet a few friends from TikTok and grab some lunch!

It Was For The KITAS

I had to leave Bali and head to Singapore for my KITAS. This is the Indonesian work permit that allows foreigners to stay in Indonesia and work. So As I began my new stint at Merygop Productions I had to leave Bali.

I was asked to plan a 2-3 day stay in Jakarta because we didn’t know how quick the process would be. The process as I found out has changed. There were some changes during COVID-19 and we were able to renew our permits from within the country since leaving was not possible. That was then, but now it was back to exiting and returning. So upon entering Jakarta from Singapore, I had my photo taken by immigration and handed them my papers. I was ready for a few days in J-town and off I went to my hotel.

That Was Quick

I entered my hotel and went to my room. I got a text that my KITAS was all done and I could go back to Bali even tonight if I wanted to. This was a big surprise because I landed on Friday evening at about 6 pm and my KITAS was done, processed, finished, and completed in two hours. WTF I said to myself. Knowing this I could have gone back and not spent money on hotels, meals, and all. The next morning in my haste to book a flight, I quickly booked my flight out.

The Details

As always I am happy to get back to Bali and off I went to my flight as planned. I had my boarding pass in my hand, and my backpack and waited at gate 25 for our plane to board. Which it did on time. I was already at the gate ready to take the steps of no return when the kind gentleman smiled at me.

This ticket is for Dec. 27, 2023, and today is Nov. 27, 2023.

Being a month early for my flight I realized that in my haste I created a lot of waste. Time and money vanished as I went back and rebooked my flight for the next morning at 5 am. That meant I needed a hotel and thank goodness there was one at the terminal. So there you go. Haste makes waste and it’s all in the details.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
