2. Dialogue Practice: Buying Coffee
Interaction (6 short sentences):
Alex: Hi, can I get a coffee, please?
Sarah: Sure! Do you want milk or sugar?
Alex: Just milk, thanks.
Sarah: Okay. Do you want a small or a large cup?
Alex: Large, please. How much is it?
Sarah: It’s three dollars.
Activity:
Read it together. Switch roles. Students make their own version (tea, juice, smoothie, etc.).
3. Grammar Focus: Past, Present, Future
Fill in the blanks (guided):
Yesterday, I ___ (buy) a coffee. Right now,
I ___ (buy) a coffee. Tomorrow,
I ___ (buy) a coffee. Every day, I ___ (buy) coffee.
I ___ (not buy) coffee yesterday.
I ___ (maybe buy) coffee later.
Practice: Students answer with complete sentences.
4. Open Fill-in-the-Blank (Weekend Plans)
Prompt:
Last weekend, I ______.
This weekend, I am ______.
Next weekend, I will ______.
I want to ______ this weekend. I
don’t want to ______ this weekend.
Activity: Call on students one by one, then let volunteers add details. Encourage short conversations like:
“Really? You will watch a movie? Which one?”
5. Conversation Expansion
Pair students (or call them one by one) to role-play:
Buying coffee in different situations: airport, train station, Starbucks, and a small café.
Add challenge: the student must order for a friend.
6. Wrap-Up
Quick recap of buy/bought/will buy. Ask each student: “What will you do after class?”
