Back to Jakarta

Going to Jakarta!

It’s been two years since I visited Jakarta. However, I am going back and I am pretty excited. I am not going to count my short layover near the airport during COVID quarantine because I never went into Jakarta, I just landed there.

Many people think that Jakarta is too busy and has way too much traffic and people. But that is what gives it its charm and excitement. It is a hot mess of people, traffic, and vendors. Plus, one can say that it is one of a kind.

From the malls to the tons and tons of restaurants, one wonders how many tons of food float between destinations each day. Mind blowing, I am sure but that is one reason Jakarta is Jakarta. Sure, New York, Toronto, Paris, and other major cities are better organized, cleaner, and maybe even more fun. But there is no place like Jakarta.

My Three Years.

I worked in Jakarta for 3 years in the SetiabBudi area. I worked for MD Pictures and that was already beyond exciting. Being in the movie business is a dream come true for many. Being the COO for MD Pictures was a life changing experience. I lived in Senen near Plaza Atrium and had great friends, met great people, and enjoyed my stay. Moving to Bali was for personal and business reasons as well. My goal was to live in Bali and I made it happen.

It seems like dreams do come true.

However, like most countries, big business still revolves around big cities and that is the case in Jakarta as well. Having lived there, I know it is not always perfect. Destinations are hard to get to even though they are by North American standards, minutes away. But once more, it is Jakarta and once you reach your destination it is usually worth it.

What Will I Do?

Catching up for the most part will be the theme. I will meet my book distributors and catch up with some friends. The highlight of my trip will be to join a very large car meet and do a ton of social media content for my TikTok.

I will also be staying near Plaza Indonesia, which is the Times Square of Indonesia and the center of all things exciting and new. I have never done content in Jakarta, and I have never done a TikTok live there, so it will be interesting to see how things will play out and how I will feel once I am back in the big city of Jakarta Indonesia.

Zsolt Zsemba

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
