The New Year! 2023

The New Year’s Resolution…

I think I can say I genuinely dislike this statement, question, and idea. Why you ask? Very simply put it is like saying I am going to start my diet tomorrow. Right after I down this whole cheesecake and this large bottle of Coke.

Why not start now? Why not put the effort in from this second? Because you don’t want to! The answer is simple. Have a thin slice of cheesecake instead of the massive slice you are about to eat. Why does it have to wait till the next year, the next month, or even the next second?

If you want to do it, do it and start now. Perhaps you have a project due at school or a presentation to a client. One cannot say; I’ll start next year or tomorrow. You need to do it now! ASAP before you get your ass kicked or get fired right?

Why not apply this?

Let’s start today! Why is everything procrastination? Because you do not intend on doing it, that’s why. It is much like when a friend asks you to go to the movies.

I’ll get back to you…

Why not tell them that you have absolutely zero interest in going, or you have no interest in that movie? Same as if you are meeting someone new and say the words, I’ll call you and you ghost them cause you didn’t have the guts to tell the other person the truth.

This is the same attitude that you probably live with day in and day out!

You are an absolute wimp!

That’s the truth and you know it, right? This indecision comes down to everything you do and you flounder about the whole process of decision making. You are the same person that cannot make their mind up after thirty minutes of looking at a menu.

Why is all this happening?

This is what you ask yourself yet you know the answer. You just do not want to and probably lack passion and dedication in your life. This is why New Year’s resolutions do not work. If you need a wedding to lose weight and fit into a dress, it will be a temporary fix. If you are a diabetic and not cutting down on your sugar you may die.

There are do’s and don’ts in the world and some decisions are better than others. No decision may or may not kill you. However, choosing to move out of the way of a bus or train that is about to hit you is one decision you would make quickly.

So let’s not wait for the new year, the next day, or the next month to make those life altering decisions you want to make. Let’s make them today if you have not made it on January 1, 2023!

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
