Writing tip 1. How I write.

Nice to meet you. My name is Zsolt Zsemba and I am a writer.

Insert your name in the blank below.

My name is _________________and I am a writer.

It’s not that hard to say, but for me to be able to say that took nearly two years. No, I do not, nor did I have some sort of impediment. I decided to wait a long time before I uttered those words. It was a goal I had set for myself and I was not about to curse myself by saying it prematurely.

My name is Zsolt Zsemba and yes, I am a writer.

Am I a good writer? Well, I hope I am decent, that would be a positive enough achievement for me.

First of all, I like to be upfront and honest. I was neither born to be a writer nor did I study to be a writer. Did I become a writer because it was my goal or dream to write? Absolutely not. The thought never entered my mind for about 27 years of my life.

My spelling is downright awful, just ask Janet, my editor. Does my train of thought make perfect sense? Once more, ask Janet. I tend to walk a path and make new ones but eventually, I do return to the chosen path. I feel that many times I go into great detail and other times I skim over things.

I am the writer; I choose my path and it is up to me to find my way back. I am the writer; I choose my characters. It is up to me to make things make sense and to make my story interesting.

Now, this can prove a few things:

  • You can learn to be a writer.
  • You can be a writer.
  • You already are a writer, author or poet.

I am not going to hand out lessons and make you study them and then hand them in for grading. I am not going to make you read other books or my books (unless you want to) to teach you how to write.

All I am intending to do is to tell you and discuss with you how I write. This is not a secret; this is not some amazingly easy thing to do but I’ll tell you how I write. What I did and what I do to keep things interesting and fun for me.

Also, there is no catch, there is nothing to buy or sell and no contracts to sign here. This is simply what works for me and how I write.

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
