How I became a writer. Part 6

How I became a writer. Part 6

All that said, I never set out to be a writer. I dabbled in writing a book many years ago. The book was more about life about people from Asia, in this case, Indonesia wanting to move to Canada or North America.

The book was not very long.  Whatever I had written was stolen by my ex-wife when she took off with my laptop. That was then and this is now.

I had a script written for a book titled Organ House. Now in the process, I lose the script somewhere. I most likely saved it wrong or deleted it, but the book remained. This was my first book and admittedly it was a rather strange 3 chapter book. It is more of a movie script-style beginning, middle and end type of things that later I broke up to five chapters I believe.

Not the norm but then who cares. It is what it is, it was my first shot at writing a real novel. It is also the shortest novel I have. This was due to the fact that I didn’t write the book on the fly. It was all done from the beginning, middle and end in my head. I was impatient and just wanted to get it done and out of the way.

This was a sprint and not a marathon and it showed. Everyone must start somewhere. This was my somewhere and I have never looked back.

Organ House was one of many and when the lockdown happened this was my escape.

At the beginning of the three novels, I mention the fact that these books were written during the lockdown. The lockdown itself and working from home gave me an opportunity to focus on writing.

The interesting thing is that the writing began much farther back in time, back in 1998/1999 December/January in Bali.

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
