Changes… Part 2

Changes… part 2.

Often times career changes are a topic of conversation, the “Walter Mitty” dream. If you have not seen the movie then do check it out. To take a leap of faith and do something you have not done before. How many of us take those chances? Do any of us ever take those chances?

A career change is one thing but, how can it change your life?  Can you switch careers and are you willing to make that change in your life? The million-dollar question is just that…

When our family business closed and the rug was pulled out from under us, we all had to make a change. It was not a welcomed change but a change nonetheless. I had to do things differently and readjust my life, we all had an adjustment and not just me.

Having been in the furniture industry literally since the age of 10, I felt I needed a break. It was the same industry, the same suppliers and the same business. I worked and helped out a few people in the industry after we shut our doors, it was the same old thing.

When an opportunity knocked, I had a chance to work in Asia again. Precisely it was back to Jakarta Indonesia where I had to spend a few years back in 1998-2003. Getting back into the entertainment business was something different and yet familiar. Having been a writer for a few years of my life it was something I enjoyed doing. Getting back in the movie business was exciting…

This was a change I needed in my life and initially, it was an easy decision to make. However, as I thought about it the actual step to say yes was harder. I had my daughter and my son in Toronto Canada, leaving them was the hardest decision. I had raised my children as a single dad for 10 years. Not having them around was the absolute hardest part of the change. My daughter was off in university so I had grown accustomed to not seeing her regularly. My son on the other hand, well, we have been best friends and never been apart.

My son is half Indonesian, we have visited Jakarta and Bali quite often and it was our vacation destination of choice. Indonesia is part of us and both of my kids loved it. With my son’s support, I decided on making the change.

“Change is hard, but not making the change seemed harder.”

Zsolt Zsemba has worn many different hats. He has been an entrepreneur, and businessman for over 30 years. Living abroad has given him many amazing experiences in life and also sparked his imagination for writing. After moving to Canada from Hungary at the age of 10 and working in a family business for a large part of his life. The switch from manufacturing to writing came surprisingly easily for him. His passion for writing began at age 12, mostly writing poetry and short stories. In 1999, the chance came to write scripts. Zsolt took some time off from his family business to write in Jakarta Indonesia for MD Entertainment. Having written dozens of soap operas and made for TV movies, in 2003 Zsolt returned to the family business once more. In 2018, he had the chance to head back to Asia once again. He took on the challenge to be the COO for MD Pictures and get back into the entertainment business. The entertainment business opened up the desire to write once more and the words began to flow onto the pages again. He decided to rewrite a book he began years ago. Organ House was reborn and is a fiction suspense novel while Scars is a young adult drama focused on life’s challenges. After the first two books, his desire to write not only became more challenging but enjoyable as well. After having several books completed he was convinced to publish them for your enjoyment. Zsolt does not tend to stay in one specific genre but tends to lean towards strong female leads and horror. Though he also has a few human interest books, he tends to write about whatever brews in his brain for a while.
